COVID 19 is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus.
Most people infected with the COVID 19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and will recover without requiring special treatment. Older people and those with underlying medical problems are more likely to develop serious illness.
Common symptoms of COVID 19 include:
Fever – high temperature of 38 degrees Celsius or above
Cough – this can be any kind of cough not just dry
Shortness of breath or breathing difficulties
Loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything or things smell or taste different to normal
If you develop any symptoms of COVID 19 you must isolate immediately and contact your GP and they will refer you for a COVID 19 test.
COVID- 19 is spread in sneeze or cough droplets.
To infect you, the virus has to get from an infected person’s nose or mouth into your eyes, nose or mouth. This can happen if someone who has the virus coughs or sneezes near you. Or if you touch something they have been in contact with, such as an object or a surface.
Ways to help the spread of COVID 19:
Stay at home when possible.
Reduce the number of people you come in contact with on a daily basis.
Practice social distancing.
Wear a face covering when out in public.
Wash hands properly and often
Cover coughs and sneezes.
If you develop any symptoms of COVID 19 please do not attend the pharmacy. Please contact your local store and we will make alternative arrangements with you to get your medicines to you.
