Pharmacy Services

Our pharmacies dispense under all government schemes including GMS, DPS and LTI. We also have in store BMI and blood pressure testing. All our pharmacies are fitted with a private consultation area to offer one to one consultation with patients when required. Weekly monitored dosage system (blister packing) is also available in all stores, extra services available in some individual stores.

O’Sullivans Pharmacy is family owned and run. Our roots go back many years with our pharmacy on O’Connell Avenue, Limerick serving customers since 1926. We strive to ensure that our services stay in tune with the needs of you, our individual customer. At O’Sullivans, you are the centre of our attention. Blood Pressure Testing

If you are concerned about your blood pressure then drop in to any of our stores and our highly trained staff will be happy to help. They will carry out a blood pressure reading and go through your results with you. You will also be given a print out with your results that you can take away with you. If our staff are concerned about your reading then they will refer you to your GP for further treatment.

Inhaler Techniques

There are many effective treatments available for the symptoms of asthma but often they are not as effective as they could be because they are not used correctly. If you are unsure as to whether you are using your inhaler correctly then drop in to any of our branches where they pharmacist will be happy to help. Using your inhaler correctly ensures that you are getting the most out of them and reduces the need to use other medications such as steroids.

Compression Stockings

Compression stockings are designed to apply pressure to the legs to improve blood flow and circulation. They also help to prevent the build up of excess fluid in the legs reducing swelling and discomfort. Most often they are prescribed by your GP. It is essential when getting compression stockings that they are the correct size. Drop in to any of our stores where are pharmacists will be happy to measure you to see what size stockings you will need.

Emergency Contraception

Emergency contraception is available in all of our branches without prescription. If you think that you need it drop in and after a quick consultation with the pharmacist it can be provided to you.

Flu Vaccination

The flu vaccine decreases your risk of contracting the flu if you come in to contact with someone who already has the virus. It is important to get the vaccine every year because the strain of flu is different every year. The HSE has identified certain at risk groups who should get the flu vaccine every year as follows:

1. Men and women 65 years and over
2. Pregnant women
3. People working in healthcare
4. Carers
5. People living in nursing homes or other long term care facility
6. People with a Long Term Illness
7. Anyone in regular contact with pigs, poultry or water fowl

Smoking Cessation

If you are thinking about quitting smoking but unsure as to what to do next drop in to any of our pharmacists and they will be happy to help. They can advise you on the best course of action depending on how many cigarettes you smoke per day. They will give you advice on how to use the product correctly so that you get the most from it and have a better chance of quitting smoking for good.
